# Hostname/IP does not match certificate's altnames

I am trying to set up Elasticsearch and kibana 8 on a new machine.

For one or another reason kibana gives me the following error: Hostname/IP does not match certificate's altnames. IP: **.**. **.** is not in the certificate's altnames.

Is there an easy command to add the IP address to the certificates altnames? The documentation wasn't that clear to me.

Are you using self signed certificate or a certificate signed by an external CA?

Using ip address is not a recommend way in certificate as it can change during compute replaces etc. So it's good to have the hostname in the certificates if possible.
