# How can I avoid alerts for an instance of a rule in advance?

Hi,
I have rules that run and create an alert for several hosts. When there is a planned maintenance window, I cannot mute the rule for one alert/instance, because the alert instance for that host is only visible when the alert was executed at least once.
Is there a way to configure a planned maintenance or is that only possible, if I configure the same rule for each host?

There is no built-in functionality for that yet, I would recommend adding an enhancement request here: [GitHub - elastic/kibana: Your window into the Elastic Stack](https://github.com/elastic/kibana)
But as a workaround I would suggest this:
- create a Kibana Space specifically for these alerts.
- move all the rules and actions in this space.
And when you have a planned maintenance window I would mute/disable all the alerts in that space.
