same issue with [Data node’s cluster uuid diffrent from master node's cluster uuid](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/data-node-s-cluster-uuid-diffrent-from-master-nodes-cluster-uuid/196737)

but I want to connect my data nodes to new cluster without deleting their `data` directory. is there any way to this?

I must delete `data` directory to connect new cluster? i don't want to lose my data
thanks in advance.

No, it is not possible. I would recommend using the [snapshot API](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/8.11/snapshot-restore-apis.html) to create a backup of your data, then wipe the nodes and have them joing the new cluster. Once this is done you can mount and restore the snapshot to the new cluster.
