# How can I determine if Filebeat is being throttled?

My understanding of Filebeat (which could be wrong) is that it will throttle its output if it detects that the output can't keep up. In my case, we have Filebeat sending to Logstash.

Is there any way of determining whether Filebeat is being throttled? I can't seem to see anything in the logs that suggest that it is, but maybe nothing is logged?

It should definitely put something into the logs.

Which logging level are you using? Which version of filebeat are you using? You should see some info at least in the INFO logs.
