# How can I have heartbeat stop generating an index daily?

As in the title, Heartbeat keeps creating an index daily; which is not really a problem by itself, but I'd like to have it in a single index for now. How do I do it?

Hi @SamuelSMendes,

Would using ILM, as [referenced in this similar post](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/disable-automatic-creation-of-daily-indexes/234293/2) work in your case? [Our documention](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/heartbeat/current/ilm.html) on the subject might also be helpful here too.
