# How can i pass a extra field

Hi @Chiranjeevi_Medichar,

You can use the [`fields`](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/6.3/configuration-general-options.html#libbeat-configuration-fields) setting to add custom fields to all your events, as in this example from the documentation:

```auto
fields: {project: "myproject", instance-id: "574734885120952459"}

```
