# How do I export the Composable Templates from beats?

How can I manually add the beats composable index templates?

The instructions here: [Load the Elasticsearch index template | Winlogbeat Reference [7.15] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/winlogbeat/current/winlogbeat-template.html#load-template-manually-alternate) only export the legacy template.

I prefer to review the index templates before loading them into Elasticsearch, so exporting them to a file is the only way to do that. I would also like to start using composable templates, but there doesn't seem to be a way for beats to export to a file except for the legacy template.
