# How do i start .Kibana Index?

While starting the kibana 4 instance, i am getting below error. Is there any configuration issue in Kibana or Elasticsearch ?

I think you should be able to issue an [open index command](http://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/1.x/indices-open-close.html) and be good to go, but you might want to find out why the index was closed to begin with.
