# How hash URI is being used, and alternatives

How is the hash uri being used in Kibana, e.g. /app/kibana#/dashboard? also, is there an alternative e.g. is it also be accessible by combining the base URI with a query parameter (_escaped\_fragment_={fragment})?

Hi @dr_dob,

I'm not understanding the question fully. The `#` in the URL is used for client-side routing within Kibana.

I guess my actual question is how can I send anything after the # (fragment identifier) to serverside routing? Or is that even possible?
