# How to add a user in 7.2

Hi,

I've read that [security is now free in Elasticsearch](https://www.elastic.co/blog/security-for-elasticsearch-is-now-free). However, I can't find any Security section in my recently downloaded Kibana 7.2, much less a page to manage users, and the X-Pack [download](https://www.elastic.co/downloads/) says it's for versions 6.2 or older.

What do I need to configure to get basic user management in Kibana and Elasticsearch?

Security is turned off by default.
