# How to bring a Cluster status to Red?

I've doing some testing and I want to changes my cluster status from 'Green' to 'Red' .  
Does any one have any idea how can i do this? What changes changes should I perform?

I've tried the methods from the following link but it did not work.

An unusual request - normally we're trying to get things out of this state! Creating an index whose shards can't be allocated to any nodes will do what you want:

```
PUT /redindex
{"settings":{"routing.allocation.require":{"name":"nonexistent"}}}
```
