# How to change specialized data node role to generic data node role

Hi,
We have 5 data nodes with below node roles as shown below. All data nodes are allocated with 2 TB of storage. We are seeing high storage usage on node1 and node2 due to specific specialized data roles defined to node1 and node2. Except hot phase indices everything is residing in node1 and and node 2 due to node roles. To balance this we would like to change this specialized data node roles back to generic data node role similar to node3,node4 and node5. We are looking for steps to change the node roles and important aspects to keep in mind while doing this. Please help!!!
