Hi there,

from this [discuss](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/forcemerge-and-merge-policies/145532), i know that elastic will check continuously to see if the index needs merging or not. but what parameter i can check, so i can makesure that the index was merged. is that by using this API? and see on the _compound_ part

```auto
GET /my-index-000001/_segments
```

```auto
            "segments": {
              "_0": {
                "generation": 0,
                "num_docs": 1,
                "deleted_docs": 0,
                "size_in_bytes": 3800,
                "memory_in_bytes": 1410,
                "committed": false,
                "search": true,
                "version": "7.0.0",
                "compound": true,
                "attributes": {
                }
              }
            }
```
