# How to copy other index mapping to create a new index?

I have a logstash-user-\* index ,I want to create a new index logstash-user2-\* and the new index mapping or any settings the same as logstash-user-\*

What can I do? Thanks!

If you are using Logstash then you probably want to copy/alter the `_template`. Have a look at [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/2.4/indices-templates.html#indices-templates](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/2.4/indices-templates.html#indices-templates)
