# How to create kibana\_user and monitoring\_user roles.?

I am reading the document:  
[https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/monitoring-getting-started.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/monitoring-getting-started.html)

I can get o the kibana page, but it requires me to log in with user name and password.

How to create the roles?

You have to use the credentials, i bet in your case the default credentials:

user: elastic  
password: changeme

Read [Getting Started with Security](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/security-getting-started.html) for more information on using Security for the first time.

Hi @nanshan

Once you log in using the default Elastic Stack credentials (thanks @nick.e for the reply!), you can easily create users and roles under Management section of Kibana. The roles you are trying to create are the default roles that we ship with, so once you have created a user, please just assign those already existing roles to that user to give Monitoring app access.
