**Hi there,**

I’m **new to the platform** , and I’m already pulling my hair out over what should be a **ridiculously simple task** —yet I can’t figure it out. Something as basic as visualizing field values seems completely elusive.

Here’s the deal: I’ve successfully set up the Elastic stack (using Docker) and am collecting logs with Filebeat. These logs include a field with numeric values that I want to visualize. **All I want** is to create a graph or table that shows the value of this field for each log entry. **That’s it.**

But can I get it to work? **Absolutely not.**

The best I’ve managed is displaying a count of records or some other completely irrelevant nonsense. Why is this so **absurdly complicated**? Shouldn’t there just be a straightforward option to display the actual values of a field?

This is **far more convoluted than it has any right to be** , and I’m honestly baffled. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I lose my mind.

Hi @i.k , welcome to our community.

Elastic discovery options works for you?

Or do you really want to create a custom visualization?

I’m not having trouble sorting the data view.
I’m not sure how to create a visualization from it.

Specifically, I want to create a Lens dashboard that displays the value of a specific field from the logs.

In the legacy tools, I managed to create a table using the **Top Hit** aggregation and setting the size to 1.

However, I’d ideally like to use Lens to create a heatmap visualization instead.

Any suggestions?
