# How to disable loading Metricbeat template in 6.x?

According to

[https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/metricbeat/current/configuration-template.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/metricbeat/current/configuration-template.html)

I need to set

setup.template.enabled: false

to stop Metricbeat loading its template (which interferes with my manually loaded one). But this doesn't appear to work:

metricbeat-6.2.4 [metricbeat-6.2.4-\*] 1

So what should I be doing please?

Good question - on looking more closely I discovered an indentation error, several screens of comments apart, and it works fine now.
