# How to Get the Status of Reindex Task

Hi Team,

Is there anyway we can get the status of reindex task which I triggered by using (`_reindex`) API. How we can kill the task if it is triggered with wrong configuration.

Hi @Debasis_Mallick

When running the [index asynchronously](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docs-reindex.html), you could use the[Task API](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/tasks.html#task-cancellation) to cancel the reindex task.
