# How to increase the priority of the re-indexing task?

Is it possible to somehow increase the speed of the re-indexing process? How could this be done?

I am carrying out this process through the API / \_reindex

Have you looked into using [slicing](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docs-reindex.html#docs-reindex-slice) with the reindex API? Have you looked to identify whether there are any bottlenecks limiting the throughput, e.g. CPU usage and/or disk I/O utilization?

I was unable to identify any bottleneck. I will look at this issue of slicing. Thank you.
