# How to set loglevel to debug in Elasticsearch 5.1?

how to set loglevel to debug in Elasticsearch 5.1 cluster? It is very strange I googled and could not find anything for this simple question.

no, this is indice.recovery?  
"logger.org.elasticsearch.indices.recovery": "DEBUG"

I mean cluster level loglevel, any settings in elasticsearch.yml?

\_root is to change the level globally:

```
PUT /_cluster/settings
{
    "transient" : {
        "logger._root" : "DEBUG"
    }
}
```
