# How to set up the deletion phase in an ILM policy

I've configured my ILM policy; however, the deletion phase isn't functioning as expected. While indices transition through the warm, hot, and cold phases seamlessly, they aren't being deleted afterward. Do I need to establish a snapshot policy or a similar mechanism for this purpose?
