# How to upgrade existing licenses to x-pack?

Hi all,

we use elasticsearch 2.3.5 and we have a license for marvel, shield and watcher. What happens with the license when we upgrade our cluster to elasticsearch 5? Can we reuse our license or do we have to purchase a new license for x-pack?

I don't find any information about this.

If you are a subscription customer you can raise a ticket on the support portal or speak to your sales representative they will be able to get a licence for X-Pack generated for you.
