# How to use pipelines

Hello evryone,  
I have created a pipeline that parse web logs but I don't know how to apply it on my data view.  
My data view is filebeat-8.6.2 and my pipeline is this:

Hi,

There are 2 ways to do that:

1. You can set the pipeline to be the default pipeline for this index/data stream in the [index settings](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/8.7/ingest.html#set-default-pipeline). So the best way would be to update the matching index template
2. You can send the pipeline to call from FileBeat in the [output settings](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/configuring-ingest-node.html)
