# Howto configure log4j2.properties to log to /dev/log

I can get this to work, but I prefer to log to /dev/log

appender.syslog.type = Syslog  
appender.syslog.name = syslog  
appender.syslog.host = xxxxxxxx.local  
appender.syslog.port = 514  
appender.syslog.protocol = UDP  
appender.syslog.facility = LOCAL0  
appender.syslog.layout.type = PatternLayout  
appender.syslog.layout.pattern = [%node\_name] %m%n
