# I cannot login Kibana

On the kibana [https://127.0.0.1:5601](https://127.0.0.1:5601) page, I log in by username elastic and password, but I got an error: Username or password is incorrect. Please try again.
Http response: {"statusCode":401,"error":"Unauthorized","message":"unable to verify the first certificate"}
Log file: Caused by: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: bad\_certificate
elastic is a super user, why is it unauthorized?

The error is not credentials related, it's about the certificate installed in the Elastic end, maybe is a self-signed and the root authority is not trusted by Kibana?, could you share your configuration settings for ssl?.
