Hi,

I have a moderate amount of netflow data present in my local instance of elasicsearch DB. I would like to export all of this data on to a fresh instance of elasticsearch present in a testing machine. Is there a way to do the same? (something similar to mongo dump db perhaps?)

Thanks.

Have you looked into using [snapshot and restore](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/5.6/modules-snapshots.html)?

Thanks Chris!

I also read up on a tutorial explaining what needs to be done for snapshotting and restoring from [here](https://qbox.io/blog/elasticsearch-data-snapshots-restore-tutorial).
However, when I run this command, after a few seconds, I end up with the response below. However, I do believe that elastic is doing something in the backend as I see constant load on my CPU. Is there a configurable parameter to set the timeout time?

```
{
  "statusCode": 504,
  "error": "Gateway Timeout",
  "message": "Client request timeout"
}
```
