# Index expansion ratio

Can you please share the latest details on index expansion ratio as in the recent years I see there are many improvements (7.x version) to optimize the index storage size?

Usually I used to consider 0.8 to 1.4 as index expansion range considering the different considerations while calculating the storage size for the data nodes.

Any recent blog or documentation will help.
