Hello to all,

I use logstash to send data to ElasticSeach. This data is sent with the index "aruba-mobilitymaster-logs".

On Kibana, I have created an "index template" as follows:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/elastic/original/3X/0/9/093074d7e947c9a1c9f74f68676c6a0ce93b9882.png)

We see that the index pattern is "aruba-\*".

And I created an "index retention policy" as follows:

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/elastic/original/3X/d/1/d16334ca330d0d6078a3bca21ee95397748e01c7.png)
and
 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/elastic/original/3X/d/5/d5b7fecfa5ca9a4619bd89c9e85425e2b5abf11c.png)

I linked my "index template" with this retention policy as you can see on the image below:
 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/elastic/original/3X/a/d/adbdaa27826231b2ca0757e951f06dd9d3d9bc1c.png)

But however, the "Linked Indices" value always remains at zero for my policy and therefore this data retention rule does not apply.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My problem was that I had configured my ILM after adding data with Logstash. I found that you have to create the ILM first before sending data with a new index that matches this policy.
