Hi all,

I know it's possible to store mappings in individual
$ES\_HOME/config/mappings/[index\_name]/[mapping\_name].json files, but is
there a way to store all mappings and settings in a single file for a given
index?

Basically I just want to have these index settings[https://gist.github.com/clintongormley/1088986](https://gist.github.com/clintongormley/1088986) stored
in a file instead of using the API. Being new to ElasticSearch, I don't
see how to do this.

Thanks!
GB

You can also use index templates:

I also prefer to use file-based mappings since I can keep them under source
control.
