# Index name doesn't reset every day

Hello,

I have an index named "metricbeat-7.10.1-2021.04.18-000324" but tomorrow it will be "metricbeat-7.10.1-2021.04.19-000325". The date math working perfectly but the indice (325) keep growing and don't reset every day.  
How can I make it reset every day to have something like "metricbeat-7.10.1-2021.04.19-000001" ??

That counter is what increments, that's how [ILM](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/index-lifecycle-management.html) is designed to work 🙂

Ok, I will look again on ILM. I have ILM policy but I have forgot something I think.
