New to ES - I need to ingest the docs into ES frequently based on the code changes and want to identify the branch or commit that is associated with building the index. Do I need to create additional mapping or is there a way to add this meta info about the index some way?

Thanks!

I am a little unclear on the relation between the code change and the index metadata, can you elaborate a little more?
