# Index Template - renaming the index

Hello,

Is there any way to auto-rename the index, when someone creates the index?

For example, when I want to create the index " **test**", in ES should be created the index " **test-timestamp**", with alias " **test**".

I saw that the aliases can be set when a index is created, by setting this option in the template file. [1], but there is no option to rename the index.
