# Indexing rate

Is the indexing rate doubled if the given index have one replica? Or does elasticsearch account for this?

No it will not, you still need to index into the primary and then the replica(s). You don't do both in tandem.

So the indexing rate reported in marvel dashboard is just for the  
primaries?
