# Indices.recovery.max\_bytes\_per\_sec

Hello -

I'm trying to figure out at what level the indices.recovery.max\_byets\_per\_sec is limiting at.

If the indices.recovery\_max\_bytes\_per\_sec is set at 40mb. Does that mean you'll get 40mb/s per index or does it limit the rate for an entire node or is it 40mb/s for the entire cluster?

Or, is it you set indices.recovery.concurrent\_streams to 4, would each stream be limited to 40,b/s?

At what level is throttling applied. The documentation isn't very clear on this.
