# Ingest processor to copy field?

I want to duplicate a text field so I can run further processors on the copied field in my ingest pipeline. Is there a better way to do that then using, say, the [trim processor](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/master/trim-processor.html) with a `target_field` set?
