# Ingesting a separate text file in addition to the log files that are already being ingested

Hey Everyone,

Please forgive me as I am still very new to the ELK stack. I currently have an on-premises ELK setup that is ingesting snort logs. Running on the same server, I have a separate script that outputs results into a text file. In addition to these logs, I would like logstash to start ingesting this text file. I have no idea how to do this, and after some googling I wanted to ask here.

You can ingest local files by adding a [file](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/plugins-inputs-file.html) input.
