# Installed x-pack on kibana now I've been asked to login

I was trying out Kibana for couple of days and wanted to look into x-pack, so followed the instructions here:

restarted elasticsearch and kibana and it is asking me to log in with the error message:
"Login is currently disabled because the license could not be determined. Please check that Elasticsearch is running, then refresh this page"
I'm shocked how easy it is to break that thing...

You can disable the security in elasticsearch.yml by setting to false `xpack.security.enabled`

Did you install X-Pack on Elasticsearch as well?
You need to install it for both ES and Kibana.
