# Is ignore\_unmapped deprecated in ES 6?

I am getting:

"type": "x\_content\_parse\_exception",  
"reason": "[40:9] [field\_sort] unknown field [ignore\_unmapped], parser not found"

But if I remove the field, then i cannot do sort on the query result if result does not have the field

Cannot find any document on this.

I switched to

"unmapped\_type" : "date"

and it seems to work.
