# Is it necessary to change role for kibana in the Users setting?

Hi !

I just installed x-pack for elasticsearch 5.0.0-alpha4 and walking through the installation step so that I did not miss anything.

I realized one thing in the x-pack _Security_ setting and would like to ask a question.

**Problem**  
Role setting for user kibana in _Users_ view and _Roles_ view are different.

**Question**  
Do I need to modify the _Users_ setting for _kibana_ user as _kibana\_user_?

Hi Yu,

You do not need to modify anything. The `kibana` user and the `kibana` role are for the Kibana _server_ user that Kibana uses to communicate with elasticsearch by itself. THe `kibana_user` role is for user that you create that should have access to kibana.
