# Is it possible to force document update despite a smaller version

Our documents are indexed in ES with a version, this allows us to be sure that only new versions of the documents are indexed. In some special circumstances, we would like to baypass this mechanism, meaning updating a document even though the new version is lesser than the one saved in the index. Is this possible ?
