# Is there a way to change the transaction to the interface name?

There is definitely a way to customize the transaction name however you see fit.  
Choose one of our [APIs](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/agent/java/current/apis.html) for that.  
For example, use our public API to [override the transaction name](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/agent/java/current/public-api.html#api-set-name). Find a place in your code that is invoked whenever there is a transaction active and use it.  
For example, one good option is to add a `Servlet` [`Filter`](https://docs.oracle.com/javaee/7/api/javax/servlet/Filter.html) and do this **after** calling `chain.doFilter()`.
