# Is there any way to do monitoring for Websockets?

Hi I was wondering if there is any way to monitor websockets for uptime? I have heartbeat 8.4 installed. I would like to see some documentation or example for how might one implement monitoring for this. Thank you.

It's not something we support as a first-class feature, however you could use a plain HTTP check and at least check that the server is available. More advanced cases, such as sending / receiving messages aren't something we support however. We probably will support it in some form in the future when we implement a solution for [Multi Step API Journeys · Issue #137 · elastic/synthetics · GitHub](https://github.com/elastic/synthetics/issues/137).
