# Is there anything "free of cost" in X-Pack?

Following up my question [How to install and use a community beat?](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/how-to-install-and-use-a-community-beat/65189)

I would like to monitor my elastic cluster using X-Pack. Is there anything free to achieve this? Are all X-Pack features are paid / trial only?

X-pack is made available as part of [subscriptions](https://www.elastic.co/subscriptions). Most of the X-Pack features are available at the Gold and or Platinum level, but there is also a free Basic licence that gives you access to monitoring for your cluster.
