# Keystore.password deprecated

ES 6.x

See this in the logs  
[keystore.password] setting was deprecated in Elasticsearch and will be removed in a future release!

Have searched the breaking changes and did not find any details.  
I did come across

Can anyone confirm this setting is being deprecated in favor of the "secure" setting? keystore.secure\_password

Yes that is correct. You should put your password in the elasticsearch keystore with that secure\_password setting.
