# Kibana Dashboard import from 7.x to 8.x

Hi Team,

I have moved my ELK stack from 7.x to 8.x  
i have exported dashboards from 7.x but while uploading to 8.x it gives error. Not supported.  
As format is changed from .json to .ndjson.

Is there any way to do this?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Are you upgrading from 7.17.3?

Have you checked the [upgrade documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/upgrade.html) and the [upgrade assistant](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/7.17/upgrade-assistant.html) documentation?

Actually its not a upgrade, it's a new cluster setup.

Earlier elk stack was on version 7.0.1 and now on 8.1.0

So i exported my dashboard from 7.x and when tried to import on 8.x stack its not supported.  
since they have moved to ndjson from json format.

So, checking if there is any way to do this?

NDJSON format for saved objects was introduced in 7.3

I've just tested to export from 7.3 a very simple dashboard and I could import it in 8.2 without issues so I think you need to upgrade your old cluster to 7.3 and try again.
