# Kibana dashboard modes: edit vs view

In Kibana 5.0, the dashboard appears to be much cleaner and save a lot of screen real estate by removing the widget borders, padding and headers.

However, when hovering over a dashboard with many widgets, the headers that pop up can be distracting, busy and sometimes overwhelming. It may be nice to have a dashboard setting (like "Use dark theme") for edit mode or view mode. In view mode, widget headers would not pop up when hovering over it.
