# Kibana + elasticsearch 5.2.0 monitoring ui not showing (RESOLVED)

I recently upgraded to elasticsearch and kibana 5.2.0. Everything looks to have gone great during the upgrade.
I have installed the x-pack plugin and have disabled security (do not need it for this use case) in both kibana.yml and elasticsearch.yml. For some reason, I am not able to see the monitoring button on the kibana ui.
I have verified that the .monitoring-data indices are being created.
Any help would be appreciated and I am happy to provide additional detail upon request.

RESOLVED: I did not actually have the x-pack plugin installed for kibana.
