# Kibana not starting

Hi @123451 ,

You probably started kibana as root from command line. Is the ownership of /var/log/kibana set to root?

Can you check similar [question](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/issue-starting-kibana-7-3/195365/5) and try provided solution
