# Kibana O.S compatibilty issue

I am not able to start kibana on windows server.  
I am getting error as:  
"This application is only supported on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher."  
The platform used is:

Kibana version used :  
kibana 5.0.2

Are you running Elasticsearch on that same instance or elsewhere? I ask because it looks like Elasticsearch is only supported by Windows Server 2012 and above according to the compatibility matrix here: [https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix#show\_os](https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix#show_os)

Kibana doesn't have an OS support matrix but we do have a browser compatibility matrix here: [https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix#show\_browsers](https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix#show_browsers), which indicates we only support the latest GA versions of those browsers. It looks like IE11 is not supported on Windows Server 2007, so it sounds like this is expected.
