# Kibana to hive

can kibana connect to hive without using elasticsearch ?

Hello Riza,

I don't believe that's possible. Much of Kibana's code is specific to Elasticsearch's API. It is possible to leverage the same Elasticsearch cluster for both Kibana and Hive and therefore have some capabilities through Kibana to work with indexes created through Hive.
